Gallabox’s next leg of journey is strengthened with a $3.5 million seed fund infusion led by US-based VC FUSE, with participation from Prime Venture Partners and Neon Fund.
It all started with a desire to bring about change—as is the case with almost all the startups. This desire soon gave way to a barrage of ideas and we chased those to solve some burning problems, especially those faced by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
From the spark of an idea to our seed round fund of $3.5 million, it has been quite a journey. This milestone represents more than just capital. It validates our mission to revolutionize how businesses convert customer conversations into growth on WhatsApp (and beyond!).
The communication challenge hiding in plain sight
Traditional business communication is broken, but not in the way most people think. While email open rates plummet and phone calls go unanswered, there's a deeper issue at play. With businesses increasingly vying for users’ attention, which seems to be as fragmented as possible, the business-user connect is on a sticky wicket.
This is especially true for SMBs, which form the backbone of their respective countries’ economies, and typically struggle to scale with less resources.
Most businesses are stuck in an endless lead capture loop, investing heavily in lead generation without the infrastructure to nurture and convert these leads effectively.
During our time in the service industry, my co-founders (Yogesh Narayanan and Yathin Panchanathan) and I witnessed a crucial truth: While maintaining a growing or steady flow of leads is important, optimizing the conversion infrastructure is just as essential.
From pain to innovation
Through hundreds of conversations with businesses, we discovered a huge pain waiting to be solved, especially for services companies: CRMs, which on their own are largely static contact repositories, can become dynamic engines of growth when powered by customer conversations.
The challenge? Traditional channels like email and phone calls weren't enough to create a self-sustaining ecosystem of lead engagement across the sales cycle, from capture to conversion.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp had become the go-to platform for personal communication globally (and still continues to rule). But while large enterprises leveraged its potential with custom solutions, small and medium-sized businesses were left behind, struggling with manual processes and missed opportunities.
This got us thinking: how can we help the not-so-large businesses to solve this specific problem of lead-to-deal conversion, and quickly? We hit upon this brilliant combination of WhatsApp, the most-preferred platform for personal communication globally, and messaging automation.
The birth of Gallabox: From Chennai to global markets
